In May of 2003 I had hit bottom with my life. I was a hopeless meth addict, was in trouble with the law and severly underemployed. My journey into Amicus House was not initially by choice, but an attempt to avoid going to jail. I had no idea what I was getting myself into at the time. I thought I could fake it until I made it. The love and experience shared by Lori and the staff at Amicus made into the man I am today. Life is a miracle and I know one thing for sure, LIFE IS TO SHORT TO WASTE! If you are tired of letting your addictions, attiudes and behaviors destroying your well being and good name, I highly recommend coming to this program. If you want to change your life for the better, get into this place now! Come learn how to live a life free of self imposed grief, misery and turmoil. Become a respectable member of the community again! I did not know how to be honest, and i was the worlds greatest thief-until i got caught. Im not saying that the Amicus program will do the work for you, but it will give you the opportunity and support you need to make a change in your well being. AS LONG AS YOU ARE WILLING TO GO TO ANY LENGTH TO EARN IT! I have been free of illegal drug use for almost four years now. I dont have to look over my shoulder in fear anymore. I have a great job and am making an honest living. I go to the store to go shopping and not to make a living. I have found GOD and include a daily regimen with my higher power. I am really starting to reap the benefits of being clean and sober. Most importantly my family finally got their son back. I used drugs for 20 years, and realy lost it during the last 5 years of my disease. I am so happy and grateful to Lori J, and her counselors at Amicus for SAVING MY LIFE! By helping me -Help Myself!!! Thank you- i love you all. James T

I was fortunate enough to enter Amicus House on Dec 31st of 2003 & have not had to take a drink or any type of drug since. When I arrived, I was a hopeless, scared, little girl with no direction whatsoever except 6 feet down. Granted, at the time, I was not aware that I was scared or a 'little girl'...Although, it was very clear that I was hopeless & angry. Everything I had tried to change my life, did not work. I come from a place of many suicide attempts & believed that there was no way to help me & my problems. So when I arrived to Amicus, I was very skeptical that this would work for me...I had the notion that I was 'special' or 'different'...Soon I realized that I was part of a commom problem, the disease of alcoholism & drug addiction. With the expert guidance, support & experience of the staff...I saw that I could, in fact, be part of a solution. With the willingness I brought to the table & the foundation my counselors helped me build, I have managed to stay sober one day at a time. Amicus House introduced me to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous & I am forever grateful! ~Kimmy.

I checked into Amicus House in November of 2005 and recently celebrated one year clean & sober. I truly beleive that if not for the clean and safe environment at Amicus as well as the overwhelming support of the Amicus staff that I would not be where I am today. I had given up all hope that I would ever change, that I would ever get clean, that I could ever be a father to my son and I was loosing my will to live. Although it seemed like a very difficult decision at the time, looking back at it now I see that checking into Amicus was not only easy, it was the best decision I have ever made. The staff at Amicus instilled in me the belief that I could stay clean and that my life was worth saving. They provided me with the skills and foundation I needed to once again be a productive member of society and most importantly a father to my son. Thank you to Lori, Jim, Tom, Freddie, Paul, Mary and Kerri

Hi all, I graduated Amicus House a couple years ago. The program made a great impact on my life. After staying in the program for a year, I was certainly glad to be free. But I will never forget my times in that house, and I look back with a smile. I'm doing great. I recently bought a town house in the upper peninsula, have a great job in the information technology industry, and haven't gotten into anymore trouble at all. Thank you all so much, James.

I went thru Richard and Lori Johnson's program in Dec. of 1997 and have stayed clean ever since. I have a life free of all that negativeness that used to surround me daily. I am truly free to live in the manner that I am now a prductive member of society and not a menace. I have learned to give freely and not take. But most of all I have learned of a God who I trust in and am continuing to learn about on a daily basis...Thank you my friends Lori, Richard (who I know is in Heaven) and also Steve Nakano, Loni Newman and last but not least Henry Gonzalez, for giving me the skills i so desperately needed to live this life. God bless you all... Carola

I am very proud to say that I am a Graduate of the Amicus House. Nine months to the day from Buena vista to the Leigh house to the Thirteenth street house. It was then that I began to lay the foundation for my recovery. The guidance and tools so freely given to me then I use regularly and share with others whenever I get the opportunity. I got a sponsor about two weeks into the primary phase.I did what was suggested and worked the steps with my sponsor. As I established regular meetings into my schedule and new friends into my life I realized I was part of a new family.(The Fellowship).I was blessed to be voted in as the secretary of my home group between my ninth and fifteenth month of my recovery.A.A. has been a part of my daily life since. I have the most fantastic support group in the world,I love them all and I know they love me.(Priceless).We have so much fun together it should be illegal. My wife and son are included in most of my A.A.events especially when we host our annual barbecue party every September at our home,or the annual ski trip to Lake Tahoe.Amicus House and my sponsor taught this alcoholic early on that if I truly wanted to change my life I needed to get a sponsor, work the steps, find a higher power,(learn to let go and let God),find a home group,go to meetings, get into service, get a support group, and pass it on.Do these things (One Day at a Time),and have fun! Awesome advise.I cellebrated three years of sobriety september 21 2006.Thank you Amicus House, Thank you Lori, Thank you staff. Sincerely, Gary B.
